At Prepare My Chapter 7, our goal is to make it easier for people to file bankruptcy without a lawyer.

Our Chapter 7 form prep fees range from $125 to $225. Your cost depends on the state (or district) in which you file and your filing status (individual or joint).

Typically, we prepare Chapter 7 bankruptcy forms for filers in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia.

MD Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Form Prep Fees

We prepare Chapter 7 forms for people who file in the Greenbelt and Baltimore divisions of the District of Maryland Bankruptcy Court. The preparation fee for individuals and joint filers (married couples) is $125. MD Chapter 7 bankruptcy  form prep fees don’t include the court filing fee. 

VA Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Form Prep Fees

We prepare forms for people who file in the Eastern District of Virginia and Western District of Virginia. The preparation fee for individuals is $200. The preparation fee for married couples is $225. VA Chapter 7 bankruptcy form prep fees don’t include the court filing fees.

D.C. Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Form Prep Fees

We prepare Chapter 7 forms for people who file bankruptcy at the United States Bankruptcy Court – District of Columbia. The form preparation fee for individuals who file in D.C. is $200. For joint filers (married couples), the fee is $225. D.C. Chapter 7 bankruptcy form prep fees don’t include the court filing fee.

The United States Bankruptcy Court is governed by federal laws. However, each bankruptcy court or division is governed by local rules. Maryland bankruptcy court limits bankruptcy preparer fees to $125 per bankruptcy.

Our standard rates are $200 for individual Chapter 7 bankruptcies and $225 for joint Chapter 7 bankruptcies (married couples). To comply with local laws, we lowered our fees for people who file Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Maryland.

The United States Bankruptcy Court filing fee is $335 for individual and joint filers.

Prepare My Chapter 7 does not collect United States Bankruptcy Court filing fees. You must pay your filing fee directly to your local bankruptcy court.

The bankruptcy form preparation fee must be paid in full before we begin the document preparation process. Prepare My Chapter 7 doesn’t offer payment plans or installments for our services.

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court strives to make filing bankruptcy as accessible as possible. When it comes to paying your filing fee, you have three (3) options. 

Option 1 – Pay the filing fee in full. Option 2 – Apply for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy waiver. Option 3 – Pay the filing fee in installments. 

 

Your bankruptcy forms will be completed three (3) business days after your phone consultation. Business days are Monday through Friday (excluding holidays and weekends).

Your enrollment includes one (1) amendment to your bankruptcy forms. This offer expires 30 days after the completion of your forms by Prepare My Chapter 7. 

Prepare My Chapter 7 doesn’t offer refunds for our bankruptcy services. Before you enroll in our services, be sure that you are ready, willing and able to file.

After you file your forms, your case will be assigned to a bankruptcy trustee. Your trustee and the bankruptcy court make decisions about your case.

Prepare My Chapter 7 cannot guarantee the outcome of your case. However, we prepare all forms according to the rules of the United States Bankruptcy Court. Your forms will be accurate and complete.

The Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Filing  Starter Package includes the local and official bankruptcy forms you’ll need to file your bankruptcy case. Local forms may include Creditor Matrix and Verification of Creditor Matrix.

Official forms include Statement of Financial Affairs, Statement of Social Security Numbers, Statement of Intention, Voluntary Petition, Declaration of Schedules, Schedule AB, Schedule C, Schedule D, Schedule EF, Schedule G, Schedule H, Schedule I, A Summary of Your Assets and Liabilities and Certain Statistical Information, Bankruptcy Petition Preparer’s Notice, Declaration and Signature and Disclosure of Bankruptcy Petition Preparer Compensation.

The Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Filing Starter Package doesn’t include forms that the bankruptcy court may request after you file your forms. This includes motions and responses to court documents.

Filing bankruptcy without a lawyer is a DIY legal process. This means that you agree to manage your bankruptcy case on your own. 

Since Prepare My Chapter 7 isn’t a law firm, our representatives can’t provide assistance with the process. The good news is there are plenty of online resources to help you manage your case.

Your contract with Prepare My Chapter 7 lasts from the day of enrollment to the completion of your bankruptcy forms. Your package includes one (1) amendment to your forms within 30 days after we complete your forms.

We have prepared over 200 bankruptcies for Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia and Georgia filers. 

Our role is to prepare all the documents you need to file your bankruptcy case. We are not lawyers, legal assistants or paralegals. We cannot represent you in court, contact the bankruptcy (or creditors) on your behalf, guide you through your case or accompany you to your meetings.
